The Eldridge and West Oaks area of west Houston is home to some of the metropolitan area’s most beautiful residential properties. But even beautiful homes can look ordinary after dark without professional landscape lighting. Here are the kinds of transformations we regularly deliver for homeowners in this area.
The Executive Home in Memorial
One of the most common starting points we encounter in the Eldridge area is an impressive home that essentially disappears after dark. A homeowner in the Memorial area came to us with exactly this problem. Their home had a beautiful stone facade, a circular driveway lined with mature live oaks, and a professionally designed backyard with a pool and outdoor kitchen. But at night, it all went dark. Neighbors who admired the home during the day drove past a dark silhouette at night.
Our design for this property began with uplighting the four large live oaks along the driveway, creating a dramatic canopy of light that guided visitors from the street to the front door. We added architectural uplighting on the stone facade that brought out the depth and texture of the stonework. Path lights along the driveway and front walkway completed the front yard transformation. The backyard received pool and patio lighting that extended the homeowners’ outdoor living time by several hours every evening.
The West Oaks Family Home
Another West Oaks homeowner approached us after noticing that a neighbor’s recently installed lighting system made their street the most attractive block in the neighborhood after dark. They wanted the same treatment for their own home. Their property featured a large front yard with a specimen crape myrtle in full bloom, a brick colonial facade, and a deep covered front porch.
We designed uplighting for the crape myrtle that showcased its dramatic branching structure, architectural lighting that highlighted the brick columns and porch details, and downlighting from the porch ceiling that created a warm welcome for visitors. The homeowner told us afterward that multiple neighbors had asked for our contact information within the first week after installation.
Commercial Property in the Energy Corridor
A small professional office building in the Energy Corridor engaged us to improve the appearance and safety of their exterior after receiving feedback that the building looked unwelcoming to clients arriving for evening appointments. We designed a complete exterior lighting plan that dramatically improved the building’s nighttime curb appeal while providing adequate illumination for safety in the parking area and along the walkways.
