Use multiple fixtures, not one
A single light at the base flattens the tree. We place two to four brass well-lights around the trunk to wrap light up through the canopy, revealing branch structure and depth from every angle.
Aim wide, then narrow
Wide-beam fixtures graze the trunk and lower canopy; tighter spots reach the upper limbs. Layering beam angles is what separates a professional design from a hardware-store kit.
Add moonlighting from above
For large oaks, we also mount discreet downlights high in the canopy to cast a soft, dappled “moonlight” on the ground — magical over patios, driveways, and walkways.
